JLast Saturday, Angela went on a blind date. Today she met her friend Eric for lunch and they are
talking about her blind date.
Eric : Hey, I heard you went on a blind date recently.
Angela: Yeah, but who told you that?
Eric : Vanessa told me. She said she hooked you up with a guy named Joe.
Angela: Yeah. She fixed me up on a blind date.
Eric : So, did you have a good time?
Angela: Well, not really. He's not my type.
Eric : What's he like?
Angela: Ugh! He has a big head! He talked about how smart he was the entire time.
Eric : That's terrible. No one likes arrogant people.
Angela: Of course not. It was so boring and unpleasant.
Eric : So, what do you look for in a man?
Angela: Well, I like someone who is sweet, humorous and considerate.
Eric : Are you talking about me? I didn't know you were interested in me.
Why didn't you say so earlier?
Angela: Stop joking around. If you know someone like that, please let me know. Ok?
Eric : Alright. If I ever find that kind of guy!

빌과 베키는 한국과 프랑스의 축구 경기를 보고 있다. 게임을 보는 동안 그들은 게임의 결과에 대해서 내기를 한다.
빌 : 야, 넌 누가 이길 것 같니? 한국 아니면 프랑스?
베키: 글쎄, 프랑스가 이길 것 같은데. 세계 최고 팀 중 하나니까. 넌 어떻게 생각해?
빌 : 흠… 잘 모르겠어. 한국도 아주 강팀이니까.
베키: 아 맞아. 2002년에 4강까지 갔잖아!
빌 : 그래, 그랬어. 그러니까 이 경기는 접전이 될 거야.
베키: 그러면, 넌 어느 팀을 응원할거니?
빌 : 글쎄, 난 한국팀 응원할래. 사실 경기가 비길 것 같긴 하지만.
베키: 좋아, 그럼, 난 프랑스팀 응원할래. 만약 프랑스가 이기면 나한테 맛있는 저녁 사줘야한다.
빌 : 좋아. 하지만 한국이 이기면, 나한테 한턱 내야 해.
베키: 좋아, 하지만 프랑스가 이길 거니까 너한테 한턱 안 내도 될 것 같은데!
빌 : 글쎄, 두고 보자고!
■ The Meaning of the Expression
"We'll see"는 "우리는 보게 될 것이다"가 아니라 위의 상황처럼 아직 앞으로 일어날 일을 정확히 모를 때 "두고 보면 안다" 의 의미로 쓸 수 있는 표현입니다.
