＂I'm Spread Too Thin＂

■Dialogue

On a Sunday afternoon, Jessica is sleeping on a couch. Her roommate Nora is waking her up and asking her to go shopping together.

Nora: Hey, Jessica! Wake up!
Jessica: Oh, please leave me alone.
Nora: It? Sunday and you can? just waste your time sleeping!
Jessica: I need to get some more sleep.
Nora: Come on, Jessica. Let? go shopping together.
Jessica: Hey, with so much going on, I feel like I? spread a little too thin.
Nora: What have you done lately?
Jessica: I have a part-time job as a baby-sitter 5 hours a day, 5 times a week. And on Saturdays, I work full-time at a restaurant, serving food and doing the dishes. Besides, in my spare time, I have to study for my exams.
Nora: You are spreading yourself too thin!
Jessica: Well, I have no choice. I have to work hard to pay my next semester? tuition.
Nora: I see. But don? push yourself too hard. 

■Translation

어느 일요일 오후, 제시카는 긴 소파에서 잠을 자고 있다. 그녀의 룸메이트 노라가 함께 쇼핑하러 가자고 그녀를 깨우고 있다.

Nora: 야, 제시카! 일어나!
Jessica: 아, 나 좀 내버려 둬.
Nora: 일요일인데 잠이나 자면서 시간을 낭비할 수는 없지!
Jessica: 난 잠을 좀 더 자야 해.
Nora: 그러지 마, 제시카. 같이 쇼핑 가자.
Jessica: 야, 너무 일이 많아서 좀 지친것 같아.
Nora: 요즘 뭘 했길래?
Jessica: 하루에 다섯 시간, 일주일에 다섯 번씩 아기 돌보는 일을 해. 그리고 토요일마다 식당에서 풀타임으로 음식 서빙하고 그릇도 닦아. 게다가 틈틈이 시험 공부도 해야 한다고.
Nora: 너 너무 무리하는구나!
Jessica: 음, 선택의 여지가 없어. 다음 학기 학비 내려면 열심히 일해야 돼.
Nora: 알겠어. 하지만 너무 무리하지는 마. 

■The Meaning of the Expression

"I'm spread too thin"은 너무 무리하고 힘들어서 마치 밀가루 반죽이 바닥에 얇게 펴진 것처럼 축 늘어지고 지쳤다는 의미입니다.
